During these hard economic times when businesses are closing, a new business has opened in the area unlike any other business around. The shop that Diane Queen has opened, EARTH-N-HERBS, is focused on natural living; but, with a twist. "We're all told we should eat healthier and live healthier, but not shown how to incorporate it into our daily lives" she said. Her focus will be on educating people on how to do it, and she offers support to encourage people along the way. Diane said: "If people understand and know the reasons why they should change some of the everyday things in their lives, then change is easier." Classes will be held on natural living, healthy eating, and how to make your own home and body care products. These classes allow people to network, get information and offer ideas on what works for them.
Upon entering her shop, you are greeted with soft, relaxing music and natural scents that remind you of "home." You'll find everything from natural body care, natural cosmetics, handmade soaps, pur essential oils, natural home care products, green and herbal teas, tea pots and bulk organic herbs. For those "do-it-yourselfers," she has ingredients to make your own products and containers to put them in, plus how-to-books.
"Read the ingredient labels on the products you buy," Diane said. "You'll be surprised at what you find. Chemicals are cheaper to make than the read thing. It comes down to money, not what's best for your body or the environment. Knowledge is power," she says. "Once you start becoming aware and making responsible decisions in your everyday life, you can change the world---one person at a time, starting with yourself." "What an example to set for the next generation to come. Remember, it's a process--not an event," she warns. Diane continues: "It takes time. Be patient with yourself but keep moving forward with the changes. You will start to feel better and happier with your life, which helps everyone around you."

RECIPE: Herbed Walnuts Makes 1 pound roasted nuts
2 TBL. butter
2 TBL. extra virgin olive oil
1 lb. walnut halves
1 ½ TBL crushed dried rosemary or 5 TBL finely chopped fresh
1 tsp. paprika
2 tsp. salt
Preheat oven to 325. Place butter & oil in a large pan & melt in the oven. Scatter the nuts in the pan, stir them to coat with the butter-oil mixture, then spread them out in a single layer. Scatter the rosemary, paprika, & salt evenly over the nuts. Bake for 20-25 min., shaking stirring several times until the nuts are golden brown, but not burned. Drain if necessary, on paper towels & serve warm or at room temperature. Very Good!
